God Hears the Needy

Elul 16/August 22, 2013—

You know my reproach, my shame, my disgrace; before you stand all my foes. See, you lowly ones, and be glad; you who seek God, take heart!  For God hears the poor, and does not spurn those in bondage.

(Psalm 69: 20, 32-33)

For reflection: We are in need of God’s compassion, as we face our emotional adversaries.  Anger grows like a fire burning in our bellies when we feel disappointed, hurt or betrayed.  How can we transform that anger, letting go of grudges? Only when we do so can the path of t’shuvah begin to be apparent.
